Laughable Moment #15

Sitting around the campfire with the kids, we were roasting marshmallows and making smores. Grandma asked my nephew, 5, if he wanted a smore.

He replied, "Yes."

Grandma asked, "Do you even know what a smore is?"

He replied, "It's when you sneeze."

After trying to contain our laughter, I replied, "A smore, not a snore."

His reply, "I want some more."

We caved into fits of laughter (personally, I was thinking of Sandlot)  and didn't even bother trying to explain any more.

Vacation Day 4

We woke up today not sure what we were going to do. Whitewater rafting was out since the river is so slow…and low. After getting to the point where we just decided we'd head to town for a stroll, the Talented One gave me the number of Buffalo Trading Post. The price was reasonable and the timing perfect, so we headed over to go for a ride!

Hank was a sweet man who not only made sure we put on cowboy hats that fit for a photo opportunity, but also made sure the kids rode the horses around in the arena for a bit before taking off to make sure that they could handle their horses well. A definite plus in my book! Once the kids were ready, we headed off to the mountain for a beautiful ride. What a great way to spend part of our afternoon!

After we were done with our ride, we headed home for a quick change and then back out for dinner. Promptly stuffed, I headed to Pagosa Candy Company for a sweet treat. If you're ever in Pagosa Springs, this is a must stop! Their candies are delicious!

And finally, we stopped by the grocery store on the way home. While there, I managed to dump blueberries all over the produce section and spill a brownie mix that had a hole in it, unknown to me. While waiting at the check out as the cashier ran to bring me another brownie mix, I turned around to the now growing line and apologized; saying that I am usually the one who is stuck behind people like me! They were gracious and didn't complain. I'd say it was a pretty good day after all!

Vacation Days 2 & 3

As I type this, I am sitting on my parent's front porch, watching the sun go down after a wonderful day. The chimes are playing as a cool breeze floats by. The birds are chirping in the trees. The little ones are sitting on the porch teasing the youngest.

They'll say to him, "Look under there."
He'll reply, "Look underwear?"

They crack up; he doesn't get it. Life is good.

Yesterday was a great day. I spent the majority of it with B-Boo having an Alias marathon. When we decided we were being lazy after several hours of our Alias addiction, we decided to take a walk. As we were walking, we came across a deer; she was looking straight at us. We were trying to get a picture with our cell phones since I forgot my camera, but the doe was too far away. As we crept closer, she started coming towards us; rather quickly. B-boo grabbed the five year old and I grabbed the drama queen. We had a nervous giggle as we thought of the scene in "Are We There Yet?" when the deer attacks them. The doe then turned and ran off, away from us, but it was quite comical!

My parents bought stain at my request, so today I got up early and started my staining. What fun! With B-Boo's help, I managed to stain the arch, the steps and the swing. I also managed to get a nice tan and exhaust myself, but it was a good tired with a feeling of accomplishment.

Wanna see?

There was also some fun with grandpa filling the water jugs. A definite photo opportunity!

Vacation Day 1

After a 14 hour, yes, a 14 hour drive yesterday, we made it to my parents! Our first day of vacation included the usual trip to ER. Well, that's what my oldest told me as we were on our way into town. He wanted to know why he always has to drive me to ER when we come to Colorado! (Hey, it's not my fault B-Boo was attacked by a dog the last time we were all here together!) It's just one of those things that we Vivas' do…we apparently like them! The Drama Queen is OK now, pumped full of steroids and ready to have some fun!

So, in celebration, we headed off to the river. This is one of my favorite things to do; picnic at the park and play at the river. We rented tubes and took turns floating down the river. My oldest son stayed an extra day, so we got to spend some time together, too. At one point, as we were walking up with our floats, a though flashed through my head. This was one of those moments; you know, the one's you'll always remember. I was here, in the beautiful mountains, at a beautiful river, with all of my children. That doesn't happen much anymore; they're getting older. A moment of sadness, because my hubby can't be here with us, but still, a special day.

Alias Addiction

Hello, my name is Hope, and I have an Alias Addiction.

I never watched the series when it was on TV, but I have a friend who has a serious addiction of TV shows; and she keeps bringing them to me to watch. And now it's Alias.

And it's a good thing I didn't watch it when it was on TV! It is full of suspense and always ends with you on the edge of the seat waiting for the next show. This poses a problem for me. Last night, rather this morning, I was up until 2 am with B-Boo watching. We couldn't go to bed until we found a decent place to end. And then, we were up this morning watching yet another episode. I would have gone nutso waiting for next week's episode if I didn't have the dvd's. It's after ten, and here I sit, watching yet another episode and telling you all about it!

I leave for vacation in a couple of days. I'd planned on taking a few books to read in my spare time while grandma plays with her grandchildren. Looks like I'll be watching Alias instead.
