Laughable Moments #18

Chicken Noodle Butt.

That boy is crazy. He really is. He won't stop talking. He won't sit still. He's five.

He's rolling around. Attempting cartwheels. Attempting somersaults. Attempting back flips.

This morning, he has my big fuzzy blanket. He was flattening it out…putting a lot of effort into it, so B-boo asked him what he was doing.

"I'm making a burrito."

OK.

So he's hopping around as a burrito and having a fun time doing it. This goes on for at least five minutes.

Then he falls. Flat on his face. He struggles to get out. He jumps up.

He shouts, "I'm OK!" and smiles real big.

He's back in his burrito again. Crazy, I tell you, crazy!

Laughable Moment #17

Today was my nephew's last day of preschool. In two weeks, he officially starts Kindergarten. Of course, we have made a big deal of this!

Tonight I was making fried zucchini for dinner. Sometimes I just can't help myself, and I laughingly will torture one of the children.

"Aunt Hope, is that for dinner?"

"No."

"What's it for?"

"It's to eat."

"Are we eating it tomorrow?"

"I am, you're not."

"I'm not eating it?"

"Nope."

A lengthy pause while he digests this information, then he replies.

"Ohhhh, I know why! It's because I'm starting kindergarten!"

Yes, I let him eat it for dinner. 🙂

Later, we were having a little chat while I tucked him into bed. He got a new hair cut today.

"I like your hair. You look cool."

"I should get a mohawk."

"No, it's cool the way it is."

"I should get a buzz cut."

"Nope. Maybe you should get a motorcycle, with a leather vest to go with it."

"Yeah, and one of those things to go on your head."

"A bandana?"

"Yeah, a bandana."

"OK."

"Aunt Hope, and a motorcycle with those antenna things that stick out of your head…like a cockroach."

"You want a motorcycle that looks like a cockroach? That's gross!"

"No, that's cool."

Ok, then…whatever floats your boat!

Comical Comments of the week:

While ordering ice cream at the pool, I said, "Yes, can I please have a fudgesuckle?"

My teen nephew found that hilarious and wouldn't let me live it down for the rest of the afternoon.

While making an eye appointment for the Talented One, the scheduler asked me for his date of birth. I stumbled through it, then started again, then stumbled again; I'd given her the month of one boy, the correct day, and the year of his sister's birth. Wow! I apologized, yet again, and explained that I was having difficulties because I had five children. Her reply?

"Well, I'd have problems if I had five children, too!" I wasn't sure whether that was an insult or not! ha ha

*************

While talking to my sister-in-law this evening, I was explaining the results of my nephew's speech evaluation. I was sharing how the therapist wants to see him back in a year, because, although he has problems, she thinks he needs help learning how to "spleak clearly."

She thought it was hilarious and explained if that was the way we were teaching him, he does need help. Very funny, ha ha ha.

**************

Can whoever stole my brain please bring it back?

Laughable Moment #16

While at the grocery store with B-boo, we decided against using a cart since we only needed a few items. First on the list was salsa, so I grabbed two jars and we headed off. We then grabbed some milk and popcycles. As we walked through the store, B-Boo commented that her hands were freezing. I remarked that mine weren't. Her reply?

"Of course yours aren't cold, you're carrying HOT salsa!"

Once I regained my composure, I reminded her that the JARS of salsa were not hot!

Laughable Moment #15

Sitting around the campfire with the kids, we were roasting marshmallows and making smores. Grandma asked my nephew, 5, if he wanted a smore.

He replied, "Yes."

Grandma asked, "Do you even know what a smore is?"

He replied, "It's when you sneeze."

After trying to contain our laughter, I replied, "A smore, not a snore."

His reply, "I want some more."

We caved into fits of laughter (personally, I was thinking of Sandlot)  and didn't even bother trying to explain any more.

Laughable Moment #14

On Father's Day we went out to lunch. When we got around to ordering, the Talented One asked my  nephew what it was he wanted to eat. The conversation went something like this:

"What do you want to eat?"

"I want chicken butt."

Shocked, the reply was, "You want chicken nuggets?"

"No, I want chicken butt."

"You want a taco?"

"No, I want chicken butt."

"There is no chicken butt."

"Yes there is. I want chicken butt."

We tried hard, amid the fits of laughter, to convince him that there was no such thing as chicken butt. We have no idea where he got it from. If he's said Elephant brains, well, that would be us warping his young brain…but chicken butt? Nope..we aren't to blame for that one!

We finally convinced him to have a taco. Then he changed it to a cheeseburger. We told him no more changes. When the waiter came to take the order, he proudly told the waiter what he wanted to order.

"I want chicken butt!"

"You want chicken nuggets?"

"No, I want chicken butt."

"Excuse me, he'll have a cheeseburger, thank you."
