So, the question of the chucks has come up…what is up with the chucks at the wedding?
The Good-Looking one loves chucks. He wears them all the time. The only person in the family that loves chucks as much as him is his sister, B-boo. Every time he needs to get her a gift…it’s “What color of chucks doesn’t she have?” Any excuse for a new pair of chucks…they will find it!
So, when it became official that he was getting married, the question came up, “What kind of chucks?” His bride…not so into the chucks. His sister…a bridesmaid…was not allowed to wear chucks. She would wear heels, per the Slurpee Stealer. She obviously had no comprehension of B-boo and heels.
B-boo does not wear heels.
A year long engagement and lots of shoe discussion.
Finally, my son put it to his bride like this:
“If you want her to wear heels, do not be upset when I have to pick her up and carry her down the aisle when she falls…and my focus will no longer be on you.”
It was agreed…B-boo would wear…
So B-boo got silver flats and the bride picked out beautiful blue spiked heals to go with her wedding dress.
But then…the groom decided his groomsmen would all wear black chucks. He, after all, got to decide on what type of shoes his men would be wearing.
And then, I got sick. And had surgery…and no time for shoe shopping to fit this short…fat….foot…that has been broken one too many times.
And it hit me….I should wear chucks! I mean, it was my son’s wedding after all..and being the Mother of the Groom…I should go with his wishes for chucks in the wedding! And just think how we’d look with our chucks and our Mother/Son dance?
I knew he would love it.
After all…he’d already had his own chucks customized for the wedding….and a matching pair for his bride.
She would wear chucks after all!
Which meant B-boo would wear chucks at the reception….compromise.
Only the Bride didn’t know.
Until after the wedding, in the limo…on the way to take pictures at the park before the reception.
I’m sure she loves them!
